A vegetarian human's adventure with cats

Geotagging, Cybersecurity & Your Cat

Read this rather scary article about how when we post photos of our 2-legged and 4-legged family members on social media, we’re often inadvertently giving away all kinds of unintended information on where we (and they) live.

The situation so alarmed a professor at a Florida university that he set up a website called:

This 2-legged thought that other 2-leggeds might like to know about the situation. After all, we wouldn’t want anyone to break in and steal our furry friends (or our children or other household valuables).

Happy 5th Anniversary Trio!

Plush BlanketsHard as it is to believe, today is the 5th anniversary of the arrival of Caesar, Macaroni, and Fireball. This year, the human wanted to honor foster humans everywhere. If it wasn’t for Foster Mom Kim and her family, the Trio would not have come to this home.Big GuyThank goodness Kim insisted the 2-legged adopt Fireball and then Macaroni when the human initially planned only to adopt the Big Guy.  It’s astounding to think of all the laughs, tears, and cuddles the human would have gone without. In fact, with a mellower group of furry friends, this blog never would have gotten started.

So here’s a shout out to those selfless rescue organizations and foster humans who help scared and abused animals learn to trust 2-leggeds again. You’re among the best examples of what our species can be.

Feed us, Human…Or else!

img_3985The human came in from running errands the other night. <<How dare you leave the house without doling out more crunchies?>> Needless to say, the 2 biggest crunchy aficionados had a whole lot to say to the tardy 2-legged.img_3984In typical fashion, the human futzed around with her camera trying to get photos of the open mouthed sassing that was going on rather than rushing upstairs to fill the empty food dishes. <<Such a bad human.>> Alas, no sassy-faced kitty shots were had (the camera’s lens is just too slow to capture the rapid facial changes), but the human sure got an earful of their opinions. And she really did put down the camera and go dole out crunchies…at last.  They may be small creatures, but they are feisty beasties! It’s best (and safest) to give them their own way.

Tomorrow is “Clear the Shelters Day” in the U.S.

IMG_2471A number of animal rescue and advocacy groups have gotten together in the U.S. to hold a mega-adoption event on Saturday, August 15 called “Clear the Shelters Day.”  What a great opportunity that is to find forever homes for so many abandoned animals.

If you have room in your home and heart for a new companion, please consider adopting from a shelter, particularly a kill shelter. You literally could save an animal’s life. And then you won’t miss out on moments like this!
