Me & My Brother

IMG_2944Mac (B&W tuxedo) and Fireball (ginger tabby) love to cuddle together. IMG_3263While they’re not actually related, they both came through the same rescue organization and foster home, so they’ve been with each other and with Caesar a significant chunk of their lives. IMG_3322In a house full of giants, they’re also roughly the same size.  That seems to make cuddle sessions especially delightful.IMG_3323You just never know what kind of position you’ll find them both in on any given day. If one of them is feeling under the weather, you can bet the other will be curled up trying to provide some comfort.IMG_3324So nice to have a good buddy to keep you warm and entertained.

Footsies…

Footsie

This is the Emperor caught having a little snooze with his front and rear paws hanging out. It seems he just can’t escape paw dangling no matter where he is.  Note the small blue mouse under his bottom rear paw? That tummy is absolutely irresistibly soft too.

Three’s Company

IMG_3477The other morning, Caesar moved down to the foot of the bed and stretched out parallel with and to the right of the human’s legs.  Pepe, who was sitting on the human’s abdomen at the time, decided he wanted a change of scenery and moved down to join Caesar.  He lay down pretty close to and parallel with the Emperor but to the left of the human’s legs. By then the human was sitting up and searching for her mobile phone.IMG_3478Next, Fireball came bounding across from the kitty bed on the nightstand by the window.  He literally bounced once on the human and then sauntered down to join the Big Boys. Interestingly, he ended up wedging himself in between Pepe and Caesar in a snug fit. That’s the kind of thing Mac does all the time, but Fireball usually doesn’t.  The human was so entranced with this row of kitty bodies that she was up shooting the trio from different angles.  They stayed like that for about 15 minutes and then went off to their various perches awaiting the slow human to serve breakfast.IMG_3480

First Fresh Nippy of the Season

IMG_3466After a week of snow, ice, sleet, and freezing rain, we had a glorious weekend with sunshine and temps in the 80s Fahrenheit.  The human felt overly warm for the first time in 6 months.  As a consequence of the sunshine and warm temps acting on damp soils, lots of plants popped out of the ground, among them, fresh tender new catnip leaves. The kitties are tired of nibbling on their weekly pot of organic wheat grass, and the poor spider plants are looking a tad ragged with all the nibbling on their leaves that’s been going on these past few months.  Clearly, it was time to give them some fresh new nippy and let them remember what that was like again.

Only 3 kitties were downstairs in the kitchen when the human brought in the fresh catnip.  The Tiger Boys got 2 small leaves a piece, and Pepe got 1 large leaf. It took a moment or two, but all of a sudden the high hit them and both Pepe and Fireball flopped on the floor and started rolling around.IMG_3467Caesar maintained decorum, although he watched the others with avid interest. He eventually walked over to where Pepe was sprawled out and watched as the tuxedo swam along on the floor towards him.
IMG_3473Fireball too came over to investigate and soon flopped on the floor and took a bit of a rest. That prompted the Big Guy to tackle him. A bit of wrestling ensued.IMG_3470All the fun over, the kitties went off to their various corners to have a proper snooze. Clearly, the human must keep a watch on the growing catnip and bring in some more fresh leaves soon.  The kitties much prefer that to the dry stuff the human dispenses in the cold season.
